At its Nov. 24 meeting, the Burlington Community School District board approved routine business items, adopted a revised anti-bullying policy on second reading and reviewed election results.
An unidentified board member moved to approve the consent agenda, which the motion recorded as including previously paid bills of $432,405.40, unpaid bills of $291,534.62 and e‑card purchases of $94,379.31; the motion passed by voice vote.
The board also approved the annual settlement of the books after a motion by a presenter identified as Reynolds; that motion likewise passed by voice vote.
On policy, the board took up Board Policy 104, the anti-bullying and harassment policy, as a second reading after referral to the policy committee. Using a primer provided to the committee, the board voted to adopt the revised policy on the record.
Director Broughs made a motion to review and accept election results; the motion was seconded and passed.
During board communications, several members thanked outgoing colleagues and welcomed incoming board members. Director Mann thanked outgoing members and welcomed new board members; Director Ross highlighted recent student athletic events and the Leopold project; Director Burke Hopper delivered a farewell address expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve. Vice President Kendall thanked colleagues and noted satisfaction that the Performing Arts Center contract was completed.
The board moved to adjourn, approved the motion by voice vote and planned a short recess to seat the new board members.
