Facilities staff provided a slideshow update showing near-complete classrooms and offices converted from the old auditorium space, a largely finished nursing lab and cosmetology and agriculture labs that will be ready soon.
Mister Ropes described the new hallway configuration and classrooms and said county inspection is complete in several areas. "The nursing lab is pretty much finished up," he said, adding that cosmetology equipment is scheduled to arrive Jan. 5 so plumbing and installation can proceed. He estimated some areas will be ready for occupancy shortly after the holiday break and that the agriculture lab likely will finish in late January or early February.
Board members noted the auxiliary gym floor had been replaced after abatement costs for removal of the old rubber floor would have been substantial. "That was a significant improvement," one member said, and the floor will allow the auxiliary gym to return to instructional use after being out of service.
Administrators also updated the board on a pending Verizon tower contract; the mailed contract was delayed in transit but staff expect delivery next week and county review to follow.
No formal action was taken; staff said they will continue to report progress on equipment deliveries, inspections and occupancy timelines.
