The Magnolia Independent School District board spent much of its meeting recognizing student and staff achievements, including two students of the month, a district teacher of the month and the Magnolia High School football team.
Angela Martinez, principal at Williams Elementary, introduced Camilla Nieto Resendez as Williams’s student of the month, noting family members were present. Martinez said Camilla has attended Williams Elementary for two years after time at Magnolia Elementary and described her as a student who “loves coming to school.”
Dr. Bess, principal of Bear Branch Intermediate, introduced Rebecca “Becca” Flores as Bear Branch’s student of the month and praised her work ethic and artistic talent, saying Becca’s “positive attitude and warm smile brighten the room.”
District officials also recognized Cassandra Glover, a seventh‑grade science teacher at Magnolia Junior High, as the district’s teacher of the month. Dr. Bullock summarized Glover’s 19‑year career in MISD, noted prior awards including district grants, and said Glover has had a “transformative” impact on her campus.
The board also honored the Magnolia High School Bulldogs. Coach Berna and Coach Martin appeared before the board to highlight a 9–2 overall record and a 7–1 district record that led to a District 15‑6A championship. Officials cited 31 all‑district selections, named defensive MVP Tyler Kovar and noted special teams MVP Gavin Gonzalez was not present. Coach Martin highlighted both athletic and academic successes, noting the team had 46 academic all‑district selections and 17 academic all‑state recognitions among 43 seniors.
Board members and administrators repeatedly framed the recognitions as examples of the district’s priorities on both student achievement and character. No board actions or policy changes were taken during the recognition segments; the meeting moved to the business agenda after a short break.
