The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees approved a resolution Dec. 11 to cast its 120 votes in the Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) board of directors election for two nominees.

Trustee 14 moved that the district nominate Martina Lamond Dixon and Melissa Noriega for HCAD; the motion proposed splitting the 120 votes between the two candidates (the mover suggested 65 to Melissa Noriega and 55 to Martina Lamond Dixon). The motion was seconded and, after brief discussion about the relative effect of CFISD's votes among many taxing entities, the board approved the resolution by raised-hand vote.

Board members noted the district's 120 votes are a fraction of the total 1,888 available votes and that larger taxing entities carry greater weight. Trustees said they had reviewed background information and references on the two nominees.
