Peoria County Board members completed routine business Thursday, voting to approve minutes and the consent agenda, passing a Ways & Means resolution to cancel certain certificates of purchase with an amendment that removed one parcel from the tax-sale list, and accepting proclamations honoring Family House and the county bicentennial.
The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance and a roll call. Early in the meeting members experienced glitches with the electronic voting display; staff and the clerk worked through the issue and recorded a correction that 15 members were present. Member Windisch moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Member Couch; the motion carried, recorded as 15 ayes.
Under proclamations the board received a reading recognizing Family House for 40 years of service to families of patients receiving health care in Peoria County. A Family House representative, Shauna, thanked the board and described the nonprofit's partnerships with OSF Cancer Institute and Carle Health; the proclamation notes Family House opened on 06/05/1985 and moved to 1339 East Nebraska Avenue in June 2011 with about 20 guest rooms.
Catherine Coyle, representing Congressman Darin LaHood, read a congressional statement marking Peoria County's 200th anniversary (dated 10/21/2025), citing the county's area (629 square miles), population (more than 181,000), and regional institutions including Bradley University.
On fiscal business, the Ways & Means Committee recommended that the county board chairperson be authorized to cancel appropriate certificates of purchase. Member Duncan moved the resolution; Member Windisch seconded. A board member proposed an amendment to remove one specific property (tax-sale item 11250002) from the monthly delinquent-taxes list at the request of accounting trustee Joseph Myers; the amendment passed by voice/electronic vote (15 ayes), and the resolution as amended also passed (15 ayes).
The board concluded with member announcements, holiday-related remarks, recognition of clerk Rachel Parker’s 15-year anniversary, and a staff farewell: Brooke said this was her last meeting and received thanks from the board. The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:30 p.m.
