The Interboro School District Board of School Directors completed its annual reorganization on Dec. 3, electing interim leadership, approving routine legal and financial appointments and adopting the district’s preliminary academic calendar and program of studies.
The board elected a temporary president after nominations were closed and held voice votes for leadership positions. By voice and roll-call votes the board approved several legal appointments: the law firm of Rafael Rubio as district solicitor (annual retainer $2,000; hourly $225; legal assistance time $100), Serene Law Group LLC as special education solicitor (hourly $210 and $105 for assistance) and a limited-scope engagement of John F.X. Reilly as special counsel for tax assessment matters at a cost not to exceed $3,000. The board also named WSFS Bank as the district depository for the coming year.
In finance business, the board approved the treasurer’s report for the month ending Nov. 30 and authorized fund disbursements totaling $4,676,795.53. The board also authorized the superintendent to use specified purchasing programs effective Dec. 1, 2025, through the next reorganization meeting.
On facilities and capital planning, the board approved a motion to provide funds to architect KCBA to prepare proposals and order-of-magnitude estimates for renovations and mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades at Prospect Park School, described by a board member as one of the district’s oldest facilities.
The board approved a package of personnel and curriculum items, accepted the retirement of Linda Loder (personal care assistant with 16 years of service, effective Jan. 29, 2026), and approved a substitute teacher service addendum setting long-term substitute rates for Sept. 1, 2025–June 30, 2027 (the board clarified the agreement is retroactive to Sept. 1). All motions reported in the meeting packet were approved by unanimous votes called on the record.
The board adopted a preliminary program of studies for 2026–27 and approved proposed school calendars. On the calendar, the presiding officer said, "This is a change for the community" and invited public feedback before the calendar is finalized; the proposed start date listed in the preliminary calendar is Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, ahead of Labor Day.
