During the Nov. 20 meeting the Board of Public Works and Safety handled a series of routine administrative actions and community announcements.
Emily Keller asked the board to approve returning the lease deposit for 5 Star Technology after the tenant notified staff on Oct. 28 that their last day would be Nov. 30 and had vacated the premises. A motion to return the deposit passed unanimously.
Keller also presented a waiver request from Indiana Real Estate Appraisal for use of Room 212 on Jan. 14 and Jan. 21 for continuing education. After discussion about waiver criteria (municipal or government events, community benefit, and youth programming), the board approved waiving the fee.
Keller requested a correction to Lauren Ritchie's recorded hours (adding 1.75 hours to a prior entry). The board approved the corrected hours. Clerk Treasurer Jane Harvey presented claims for payment and the board approved the claims as presented.
Staff reported payroll sellbacks for 2025 totaling 778 hours (a substantial decrease from the prior year figure referenced in the packet). The board approved the sellbacks and confirmed the payments are allowed within current budgets.
In community announcements, Miss Kelly said the annual Christmas parade is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. The theme is "Christmas and Toylander;" staff and board discussed weather contingencies. The meeting adjourned with holiday wishes from board members.
