The board considered and approved bids to install turf fields (and associated track work) at Madison County High, Buckhorn High and New Hope High. A motion to approve the Madison County High turf and track bid passed by voice; subsequent motions to approve Buckhorn and New Hope bids also passed by voice vote.

Board members said the approvals will result in all district high school football fields being turfed and praised the district leadership's increased support for athletics, noting that principals typically cannot raise sufficient local funds for such projects on their own.
