At its Dec. 11 organizational meeting, the Fountain Valley School District Board of Trustees elected Dennis Cole as board president for 2026 and approved a slate of officer appointments, regular meeting dates and routine business by unanimous votes.
President Sandra Crandall nominated Cole for board president; a second was made and the board voted 5–0 to elect him. Cole then was tasked with selecting a president pro tem; trustees nominated and approved Mister Nguyen as president pro tem by a 5–0 vote. The board also nominated and approved Mister Schultz to serve as clerk for 2026, again by a 5–0 tally.
The board approved 13 regularly scheduled meeting dates for 2026 and then proceeded to assign trustee representatives and alternates to county and district committees, including the nominating committee for county school district organization, the health and wellness committee, the Huntington Beach city/school districts committee, the district audit committee, the superintendent parent council and the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation. The compiled list of committee assignments was read back to the board and approved 5–0.
Later in the meeting trustees approved the consent calendar (items 1–15) in a single motion without pull requests; the vote was 5–0. The board also announced the next regular meeting date as Jan. 15, 2026 at 5 p.m.
