A Grayson Landcare representative told the Grayson County Board of Supervisors the group distributed 488 boxes of food in November — an ‘‘all-time record’’ — and described a range of community programs, including a free Christmas market for children, a medical lending library and youth gardening programs that worked with about 72 students.
"The November distribution was 488 boxes. That is an all time record," the presenter said, and noted the organization has served more than 1,000 people since starting distributions in 2020. The farmers market also had a strong year, averaging 27 vendors with a high of 36 and typical attendance around 250 customers; the presenter said the tomato festival attracted a record 340 attendees.
Separately, the board considered a community impact grant resolution in the packet. Staff read a requested amount of $617.17, described as equal to the 2025 real-estate tax amount for the property and supported by a tax invoice and acknowledgement in the packet. A motion to approve the resolution passed on a roll-call vote and the resolution was recorded as passed by the board.
The presenter thanked the board for prior support and for the community impact grant program; she said most county funding for Grayson Landcare goes to food distribution work. The board agreed to provide a copy of the budget packet in the audience and scheduled organizational meetings and the budget calendar in the packet for the coming fiscal cycle.
