At its Dec. 10 meeting the Pelham Union Free School District Board approved routine consent-agenda items including personnel actions, budget transfers and the treasurer’s report. The board accepted a state grant disbursement of $1,337,000, secured earlier by former State Senator Alessandra Biaggi, to fund a district-wide camera and access control upgrade; district staff described the required SED filings and procurement steps.
The board also reviewed and approved a tax certiorari settlement for a commercial parcel (the parcel identified in discussion as the shopping center near ShopRite) that will result in a refund payment of just over $400,000; the district said the amount will be paid from reserves earmarked for such appeals. A donation of $2,220 to Prospect Hill’s Birthday Book program was accepted for purchasing books for students.
Board members moved to waive third readings and adopt six policies that were before them at second reading; the motion carried as part of the consent agenda. Several retirements and personnel appointments were announced and approved. The board closed the meeting with routine adjournment motions.
Votes on the consent agenda and the donation motion were recorded as carried; no roll-call vote breakdowns were transcribed for each consent-item motion in the public portion of the transcript.
