State education staff on the Utah State Board of Education’s advisory (AD) call gave districts a series of assessment and data updates and issued test‑security reminders.

Staff announced that the Data Gateway now includes 2025 ELA proficiency and growth data for the RISE and Utah Aspire Plus administrations but cautioned that 2025 ELA scores are not directly comparable to prior years because the English subtest was removed and new cut scores and blueprints were adopted. "Remember this spring, 2025 was the first year that we have removed the English assessment," a presenter said, adding that users should "use a lot of caution" when comparing year‑to‑year results.

On testing security, staff flagged recent red flags including copies of Acadience test items being used as classroom materials or sent home and vendor issues permitting limited browser access that allowed students to use Google Translate on speaking tests. "Copies of Acadience reading assessment should never be sent home for instruction or so used for practice," the presenter said, calling such practices “disturbing.” Staff urged LEAs to follow R27744‑8 testing‑ethics guidance, conduct local investigations and refer substantiated cases to UPAC as appropriate.

Staff also warned against emailing personally identifiable student information (PII) and asked LEAs to use student IDs and internal processes to avoid making PII widely accessible.

The meeting included operational reminders on rostering, pre‑ID files for ACT and STAMP, timelines for midyear windows, and resources for rating review and proctoring. Staff said they would confirm when Tableau visualizations will be updated to match the Data Gateway.

The session closed with staff noting one formal board approval: the November board had approved DLM/alternate evidence elements for science, and rule changes to R277‑716 will be considered at the December meeting.
