Mayor Becker used the council meeting to recognize community partners who supported Fall Fest and the Westminster Oyster Stroll and to announce winners of holiday events.
"Fall Fest is Westminster's longest running special event and Carroll County's largest community charity celebration," the mayor said as she presented $5,400 checks to the event’s nonprofit partners: Crossroads Church, Find Your Purpose, Rachel's Bears and the Westminster Municipal Band.
The mayor also presented a $5,000 contribution to the Coastal Conservation Association in support of the Oyster Stroll and its Living Reef Action Campaign; Dave Sikorsky, executive director, described the association's more‑than‑10‑year grassroots effort to restore Chesapeake Bay oyster habitat and thanked the community for long‑term support.
The council recognized winners of the Miracle on Main Street Electric Holiday Parade and the mayor's storefront decorating contest: best and brightest went to Carroll County Veterinary Clinic (Lynn Wimmer accepted), spirit of the season to George Sterling (Sterling Quality), and Main Street champion to Cub Scout Pack 631 (represented by Diana Hall and Will Sommer). The mayor announced the mayor's holiday cup winner for best overall display (an arts council display highlighted for its creative installations and a portrait motif).
Council members and attendees offered brief thank‑you remarks to volunteers and staff who organized the events. The mayor encouraged residents to visit campus holiday lights and upcoming arts events.
What happens next: The council’s recognitions are ceremonial; community partners will receive the announced contributions and organizers will proceed with planned events.
