At its Dec. 8 meeting, the White Plains City School District Board of Education voted on several personnel and program items listed on the agenda.
A motion to authorize the board president and superintendent to execute a stipulation of settlement in connection with an impartial hearing passed by voice vote after trustees moved and seconded the item.
The board approved an extension of the interim assistant principal appointment for Joseph Spiro, extending his term from Dec. 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The president called for a motion and members voted 'Aye.'
Trustees also approved the creation of a White Plains High School varsity ski team for the 2025–26 season, to be coached by Patrick Clark "at no cost to the White Plains City School District," the motion said during the meeting. Board members welcomed the new program and noted the district’s partnership with Bronxville to support the offering.
The board approved a request under the CSCA contract to extend paid absence beyond 30 working days for three employees; the employees were identified by employee number in the meeting materials. The motion passed by voice vote.
A recommendation for Mr. Diaz as the new White Plains High School varsity baseball coach appeared on the agenda and Diaz addressed the board, thanking the hiring committee and saying he is "very excited to be here." The transcript records his remarks and the board’s congratulatory response; the formal vote for that specific recommendation was not recorded in the transcript excerpt.
