The Okaloosa County School Board held public hearings and adopted six policy and job-description items in unanimous votes during its regular meeting.

Items considered under agenda section 15 included: adoption of a new policy 02-22 on risk management claims settlement; revision of policy 06-33 (administrative leave, suspicion, suspension and dismissal of employees); revision of policy 89 covering duties, ethics and professional conduct; revisions to chapter 5 on student education records; adoption of a new job description for associate director of curriculum; and adoption of a new job description for director I, human resources. In each case the board opened the hearing, recorded no members of the public wishing to speak, then moved, seconded and approved the item by voice vote.

The transcript records movers and seconders for these items (for example, 15.1 moved by Mr. Bryant and seconded by Mr. Heiling; 15.2 moved by Dr. White and seconded by Mr. Bryant). Votes on each item were recorded as passing 5-0.

Board members offered no substantive amendments or public testimony on these items at the meeting; the actions were procedural adoptions following the posted public hearings. The chair noted the hearings concluded and business continued to recognitions and later agenda items.

The board recorded these approvals as part of routine governance to update and clarify personnel, ethics and records policies and to create two job descriptions that the district identified as needed.
