The Central York School District board opened Dec. 8 with student- and employee-recognition ceremonies across the district. Presenters described the district’s student-of-the-month program and highlighted winners from multiple schools.

From Sinking Springs Elementary, sixth grader Cassie Hardy and fifth grader Kenny McCullough were recognized for character and leadership. The middle school honored Journey Walker Bowers (grade 7) and Carly Patton (grade 8), and the high school named Sofia Beers and Kayla White as students of the month. Presenters credited teachers and coaches for nominations and invited families to take photos.

The board also recognized employees of the month. Jody Snyder received the district’s employee-of-the-month honor; the presenter announced a planned retirement but said Snyder will remain on through the end of the year. Betsy Rao and Bessie Rowe were also honored for instructional leadership and family engagement work.

Supervisors and directors praised the contributions of awardees and invited applause; the meeting paused for photos and light refreshments. The recognitions were ceremonial and no board action was required.
