The Grand County Audit Committee set its 2026 calendar on Dec. 5, agreeing to meet on Jan. 9, March 20, May 29, Sept. 18 and Dec. 4. Members emphasized that the May/June window is critical so the audit committee can review a draft audit in late May and get the county commission to consider it at its June meeting (the commission’s second June meeting is June 16, according to the discussion).
Committee members discussed practical scheduling details: several asked for flexibility around weekdays because other county boards meet on Thursdays and may conflict; staff suggested May 29 as the committee’s second-quarter meeting to review the draft audit, with May 29 timed to allow the commission’s agenda deadline and June 16 commission meeting. Members said they would notify calendars and adjust as needed.
The committee also agreed to schedule a special January meeting to invite component units and the external auditor and recommended adding a March meeting to keep the committee on track for audit preparation.
Next step: staff to post these dates and to circulate calendar invitations so component-unit representatives and the external auditor can plan attendance.
