Development Services Director Doug Libby updated the commission on several items and provided a brief project timeline for Merriment Village, a housing project whose Phase 1 will include 79 units and is slated for completion by May 31, 2027.
“Appreciate you taking the time to come out and see the groundbreaking,” Libby told commissioners, calling the event “a great event for the region.” He thanked commissioners who attended and said the project’s first phase — 79 units — is expected to be complete by 05/31/2027.
Libby also announced schedule changes: the commission’s Dec. 24 and Jan. 14 meetings will be canceled; the commission is scheduled to reconvene Jan. 28, when staff plans to present a use permit for off-site parking on 2nd Street proposed by a church. He listed other projects likely to come before the commission in the next one to two months, including a subdivision at the northeast corner of Elmer Avenue and Butte House and a use-permit amendment for Calvary Christian at El Margarita and Highway 20. Libby noted that traffic concerns will be a primary challenge on some pipeline projects, citing recent development patterns and prior Ridge Estate discussions.
The meeting adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
