Sedgwick County staff used the agenda review to preview several consent and budget items the board will consider, highlighting contract renewals, contract cap increases, and planned fund transfers.

Staff said the board of bids and contracts includes a lengthy annual insurance renewal item and noted several consent agenda items for commissioners to review. A lease renewal with Ramapo for space at the Reagan Building is included at the current rate. Two Comcare contracts with DECA for respite care programs will be adjusted: staff proposed increasing the 2025 contract cap from $75,000 to $100,000 because of higher utilization, and setting the next year’s contract at $100,000 to recognize sustained demand.

Staff also summarized the annual funding agreement for Project Access and the Center Plains Healthcare Partnership, stating, “Sedgwick County contributes $200,000 in your packet,” the same amount cited for the city of Wichita. Commissioners spoke favorably about Project Access’s community impact.

Finally, staff described a budget transfer to make 2026 public safety contingency funds available to pay the first year of an Axon justice premium package contract. The amount noted for the initial Axon payment is $204,903; staff said the district attorney previously described the package to the board.

No formal votes on these consent items were taken during the agenda review; staff encouraged commissioners to raise questions ahead of the formal meeting.
