County staff reminded commissioners and the public that a required annual public meeting regarding the county’s MS4 stormwater permit will be held next Friday at 9 a.m. in the Sedgwick County Public Works Building basement training room.
Lynn, the county’s stormwater staff member, said the meeting is part of permit compliance: it covers accomplishments, planned activities, and goals related to the MS4 permit. "We have to have a public meeting, discuss what's going on with our stormwater permit, what was accomplished, what we are hoping to accomplish," Lynn said. Staff noted that despite outreach attempts, public attendance has historically been low and that the meeting is open to anyone in the public who wishes to attend.
Commissioners asked whether the meeting is county‑only or jointly held with the city; staff confirmed it pertains to the county's MS4 permit only. The board also thanked public works crews for readiness during recent weather events and reminded the public that the regular Wednesday meeting will start at 10 a.m. (rather than 9 a.m.).
