Danielle Marshall, relationship development officer for Service Credit Union, presented the credit union's select-employer-group program to Rockingham County commissioners on Dec. 4, 2025. The program would extend membership eligibility to all county employees at no direct cost to the county and can be administered through HR.
Marshall described the simple onboarding process: the county completes a short online form and designates a single county point of contact (HR was suggested). She said the program can be tailored to include financial-wellness events, benefits fairs, and communications placed on the county's employee benefits platform. Marshall also noted a payroll-related timing benefit: direct deposits to a credit-union account often post earlier (one to two days early on average), which can be a small retention perk.
Direct quote: "So essentially, what my job entails is partnering with local businesses and organizations... and we extend our membership qualifications to that group," Marshall said while describing the program.
Allison Kielakoski (HR) agreed to coordinate with Service Credit Union if the board designates her as the point of contact; commissioners signaled support to move forward with follow-up coordination.
Next steps: If the board approves internally, HR will complete enrollment paperwork, coordinate with Service Credit Union, and explore communications for staff.
