The Mount Diablo Unified School District Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting Dec. 10 and elected Trustee Mason as board president for 2026 and Trustee Nzewi as vice president.

Under Education Code requirements and board policy, trustees opened nominations and conducted roll-call voting after a brief procedural delay caused by remote-voting logins. Trustees cast unanimous votes to adopt the 2026 meeting calendar and to approve the certificate of signatures for the 2026 calendar year.

Superintendent Clark confirmed there were no changes to the meeting agenda before the organizational items began. During the election process the board paused briefly for technical troubleshooting of the electronic-signature/voting platform; President-elect Mason then accepted the gavel.

The calendar adoption included language noting that meeting dates were set to maximize public participation and to consider recognized religious observances and related work restrictions. The measure passed on a 5-0 roll-call vote with consent from the student representative.

The board also discussed procedural details about how nominations and votes were conducted in past years and agreed to retain its current practice of nominations followed by roll-call votes. No challenges to the outcomes were recorded.

The board plans to continue organizational housekeeping at subsequent meetings, including appointments of board secretary and committee assignments.
