At the North Bend URA work session, a Main Street presenter introduced a request for an urban-renewal redevelopment grant to help fund commercial heating upgrades at 2056 and 2028 Sherman.

"James Crow is a recipient of the Stronger Spaces, so this aligns with addressing code compliance," the presenter said, explaining the request seeks a 20% match from urban-renewal funds. James Crow told the council the Humboldt Club is "one of the oldest continually operating businesses anywhere in the county," and said some equipment has aged and is not up to current standards.

Crow said upgrading heating equipment will benefit customers and renters and will reduce electric costs, and that bringing the other tenant space up to commercial heating would bring it into code compliance and align with renewal goals and the state program.

Councilors and staff acknowledged the alignment with the city's Stronger Spaces priorities; staff indicated they would present specifics and the formal request within the URA agenda for council consideration.
