The Ralston Public Schools Board voted to award a Phase 2 remodel contract and approved the removal of two district policies during its meeting.
Board members moved to “recommend approval of the bid from White's Construction for phase 2 remodel project at Spec Nelson Stadium Central Office and other locations in the amount of $3,094,000,” the motion text read, and the motion was seconded. A board member noted the district ran a “fair and open bidding process” with seven contractors bidding and bids clustered within about 10% of one another. The board recorded aye votes from Miss Rorty, Missus Kimmer, Missus Richards and Missus Willie; the motion passed.
Separately, the board approved removing policy 6046 (private tutoring) following a recommendation from the district’s policy service. The motion to remove the policy was recorded with aye votes from Missus Richards, Miss Rodey, Missus Willie and Missus Comer and the motion carried.
The board then approved removal of policy 3011 (transportation of option students) because its content has been moved into policy 55005. Recorded ayes on that motion included Missus Richards, Miss Rorty, Missus Comer and Missus Willie; the motion passed.
During discussion of the contract award, a board member said approving the bid could let renovation work begin “as early as right after Christmas” and that central-office spaces will need temporary relocation while work is completed. The board did not record any no votes in the transcript.
The motions and vote tallies recorded in the transcript are the official actions referenced in the meeting minutes; staff said more scheduling details will be provided as work begins.
