At the meeting staff played and described a CNN10 segment that featured two Ralston students, Charlie and Ben, as part of a '5 Good Things' item about a statewide kid-governor program.

The CNN10 anchor said, “Meet 10 year old Charlie Couch, Nebraska's first ever kid governor,” and the segment described Charlie’s platform and upcoming swearing-in at the state capitol. Staff said the class watched CNN10 during instruction and were surprised to see Charlie and Ben appear on the program.

District staff also said they arranged a rotating digital-billboard campaign recognizing metro students who participated in the kid-governor cabinet; the spots will run through December at locations identified along 84th Street and West Center Street.

Board members celebrated the recognition and said the district will provide a link to the CNN10 segment for families.
