Commissioners raised concerns about the oak-boring beetle and discussed educational outreach to inform landowners and the public. Members identified Mike Jones at UC ANR (mjones@ucanr.edu) as a responsive contact and proposed asking him for a written update or arranging a future presentation via Zoom or in person.

The group discussed timing to avoid overburdening experts; some members suggested waiting several months (spring) before scheduling another presentation. The commission also considered partnering with local organizations — including the Willis Environmental Center and county agricultural extension — to broaden public education efforts.

No formal policy was adopted; staff were asked to contact UC ANR and to relay any written materials back to the commission so members can plan community outreach events.
