The Committee on Parole voted to grant parole Dec. 9 to Tony Winbush, DOC 132542, a third‑felony offender convicted of aggravated burglary, but made release conditional on completion of a victim‑accountability letter class and compliance with a curfew.
Board members reviewed Winbush’s institutional record and heard from the warden that he had completed several programs (victim awareness, living in balance) and worked on the South Yard crew. The warden reported a residence plan with a brother and a potential job at a tire shop in Mansfield.
The panel questioned Winbush about the circumstances of the offense and whether a gun was involved; Winbush said the homeowner handed him a gun and he left without harming anyone. Board members expressed skepticism about that account but noted his steady institutional record over 20 years. After an executive session, the assigned member said Winbush had spent his time productively, met program requirements and had a reentry plan; the board voted to grant parole with a curfew of 10 p.m.–5 a.m. and a requirement to complete a victim accountability letter class before release.
The panel advised Winbush to make the parole agent a primary point of contact and reiterated that failure to meet conditions or engage in prohibited contact could lead to revocation and return to custody.
