The Perkiomen Valley Board of School Directors used part of its Dec. 8 meeting to recognize volunteers, coaches, teachers and students.
Principal Christivenza and the board honored two Schwenksville Elementary parents, Mister Berger and Mister Maza, for building and donating reading nooks that have become popular student spaces. The board praised their generosity and community engagement.
The board also recognized Coach John Russo and Coach Ryan Sullivan for recent coaching honors. President said Coach Russo led the Perkiomen Valley girls basketball program to a state championship last year and noted an overall record and multiple district and pack championships. The board congratulated the student athletes who attended the meeting.
Evergreen Elementary principal Ryan Marsh introduced Kelly Woycek as the district’s 2025 recipient of the Hilda Menke Sunderman award for elementary teachers; Marsh said PV finalist Kevin Tomlinson nominated Woycek and praised her compassion and instructional skill.
Finally, the board celebrated the Perkiomen Valley Marching Vikings’ first‑place finish in the US Bands Group 3 Open class national championship, including a 96.3 score and awards for best visual and best overall effect; the band played its 2025 program "Sunrise, Sunset," students were called up for recognition, and the board recessed briefly to take photographs.
