District staff reported the Grant Bowl permit package is in the City of Portland intake with no issues flagged, Pacific Power coordination is underway, lighting vendor Musco's lead times are on schedule, and conceptual plans for Powell Park will be discussed with Portland Parks in January.
At the Dec. 9 Facilities Improvement and Oversight Committee meeting, Tom Odgers provided an operational update on the Grant Bowl athletic facility project.
Odgers said the project's permit package "has been submitted to the City of Portland" and "passed the initial screening and is officially in the city's intake process," with no issues flagged to date. He said the district is coordinating with Pacific Power to confirm final service requirements and that Musco, the lighting vendor, reported lead times consistent with the target schedule. "With permits and intake and vendor timelines being confirmed, the project remains on track," Odgers said.
Odgers also said district staff showed conceptual plans to Portland Parks and Recreation for Powell Park, a shared-use park, and that both agencies will meet in early January to discuss next steps. He noted Musco's scope does not cover all required electrical work; the district is pricing the remaining electrical components internally but does not expect that added scope to threaten schedule or cost.
What happens next: Staff will update the committee when Pacific Power confirms final service requirements and when Musco provides lead-time updates; a joint district-parks meeting on Powell Park is planned for early January.
