During the second public comment period, a Lewistown resident seeking a junior high baseball volunteer position addressed the board and acknowledged a 2022 DUI. He described counseling and community involvement and asked the board to consider his application; he said he has experience umpiring and coaching youth baseball.

Multiple members of the public spoke in support. One commenter, Justin Burrow, said he had watched the applicant coach and umpire and described him as fair and experienced. Another speaker asked the board to examine any volunteer policies that would exclude a community volunteer for a past DUI while employed staff with multiple DUIs remain in classroom roles.

The presiding official said the board could not resolve personnel or suitability decisions in public comment and instructed the applicant to pursue follow‑up outside the meeting. The board did not take a formal action on the volunteer request during the meeting.
