At its Dec. 11 meeting the Savannah‑Chatham County Public School System Audit Committee approved several procedural items, including adoption of the audit committee charter with two corrections, approval of minutes from June 26 and Oct. 30, 2025, and adoption of proposed 2026 meeting dates.

Speaker 4 reviewed the charter and explained a new practice this year of bringing the charter as a first read with a second read required only if members request changes. Committee members debated whether the charter’s reference to reviewing board accounting policies was too broad and could duplicate work performed by other committees; members agreed the language is intentionally flexible and can be interpreted to identify policies relevant to audits rather than requiring exhaustive review.

Speaker 5 moved to accept the audit charter with two edits; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The committee also moved and seconded approval of the stated minutes and of proposed 2026 audit committee meeting dates; Chair called for and received voice votes on each item.
