The Adams County Administration & Finance Committee on an affirmative voice vote agreed to forward a resolution asking county administration to ratify a union contract that the union recently ratified.
County staff told the committee the union "did ratify the product of that final negotiation session," and that, if the committee and the full board approve, the county will have a fully ratified contract in place. Corp Counsel stated, "They go back to 01/01/2025. They're retroactive," describing the contract's effective date for salary increases.
Committee members asked how the county will handle back pay for employees who have left. The HR director said, "In the previously, we have made those individuals whole that have left the county," and that negotiations had considered that outcome.
A motion to forward the resolution passed; the committee recorded a second and approved by voice vote. The resolution will be placed on the full county board agenda for final action.
Why this matters: ratifying the contract will establish pay increases and create a payroll liability for retroactive pay. The committee asked staff to track the fiscal impact as the item moves to the county board.
