A district construction update to the Mercer County Board of Education described progress at the new elementary school and near‑term sequencing for interior finishes.
The project lead (speaker 15) said recent work includes installation of several roofs, substantial brickwork appearing on the front of the building and completion of terrazzo in the first‑ and second‑grade wings. "We're getting the drive patterns, the roads, and the parking lots roughed in so you can start really seeing how that comes together," the project lead said, and noted foundations were in place for canopies at the east end where preschool and kindergarten will be located.
The update said mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems are being finished and that temporary heating would be started this week to allow work on finishes through winter. The project lead told the board crews planned to install windows before the next meeting and hoped that, "by the next board meeting, all the roof's gonna be on the building" if weather cooperated.
Board members asked clarifying questions and were shown photos of the site; the superintendent and staff said additional walkthroughs had been completed at other schools and that the district will continue to monitor the schedule and share updates.
No action was taken; the board requested continued updates on sequencing and weather‑sensitive timelines.
