The Livingston Parish School Board handled a series of procedural and administrative actions, including authorizations to advertise construction bids, a recommendation to re‑advertise a property sale at a lower starting bid, and several routine ratifications.
The board authorized staff to advertise bids for multipurpose buildings at Live Oak Elementary, North Live Oak Elementary and South Live Oak Elementary after a motion was made and adopted. Board member Robert Sealy spoke in support and thanked local school staff and the designers who contributed to the plans.
The board also authorized advertising for an addition to the STEM center in Denham Springs; the superintendent explained the board would need to advertise and receive bids for the addition, and the motion to grant advertising authority carried.
Accountant Bridgette DeMonica reported no bids were received on Dec. 2 for Bid No. 26‑03 (sale of a house to be moved, Holden District). She recommended lowering the starting bid by 25% to $52,500 and re‑advertising. The board approved the recommendation to re‑advertise with the new starting bid.
The board ratified compliance with Act 705 educational requirements for board members and formally ratified a probationary employee termination that had been approved at a prior meeting but lacked a recorded motion. The board also approved the monthly financial report, audit‑related updates and invoice payments.
At the meeting’s close the superintendent reviewed district calendar items — including the Livingston Parish Basketball Tournament scheduled for Dec. 8–13 at Live Oak High School — and the board adjourned.
