The Leominster City Council voted unanimously Dec. 8 to approve appropriation C‑29: $293,402 from the stabilization fund to the Public Works Capital Outlay account to purchase an International six‑wheel dump truck and sander.

Councilors heard from the finance committee and heard that the DPW director indicated lead times for such vehicles exceed two years; a truck recently became available after another community declined delivery. The finance committee recommended the appropriation, which passed 9–0, and the council adopted the related order to transfer funds.

Councilors said maintaining and upgrading the DPW fleet is crucial for year‑round public works needs and noted that delaying purchase could increase cost and extend serviceability issues for older equipment that is ready to be retired.
