The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Board presented the 2025 R. King Milling Distinguished Cultural Service Award to Janice Lansing in recognition of her service as CPRA chief financial officer from February 2010 through August 2025.
Greg Grandy, coastal resources administrator, read the award resolution and highlighted Lansing’s role in creating in‑house accounting, procurement and grants functions, implementing the LAGOV ERP system to support project accounting and tracking, and establishing audit and fiduciary processes that have underpinned CPRA’s project focus. Grandy said the changes Lansing led prepared CPRA to manage large settlement and restoration funds and to scale project delivery.
Lansing accepted the award and recalled early work after the Deepwater Horizon response, saying an early conversation with Mr. King Milling—"We need audits"—helped set expectations for rigorous financial oversight. She credited agency teams and partners and described CPRA as deliberately designed to move quickly while maintaining accountability. Chair and board members publicly thanked Lansing for her leadership and service.
