The Half Moon Bay County Water District board voted to approve a professional‑services agreement with Reliable Automation Controls LLC to provide SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) integration for the district’s well‑field replacement project. A board member moved the authorization, citing the need for remote monitoring, alarm management and programmable controls; another director seconded the motion.
The contract was described in the meeting as a year‑long scope covering programming, alarm and data acquisition configuration and integration of HMIs and control panels to allow district staff to understand and control wells from the district office. Staff said the general contractor will perform the physical well start‑up while the SCADA integrator will handle the controls commissioning. In discussion, staff noted the district uses cellular telemetry with multi‑carrier eSIM devices that can switch between providers to maintain connectivity.
“So I move we authorize the general manager to enter into a professional services agreement with Reliable Automation Controls LLC for SCADA integration services for the well‑field replacement project for an amount of $163,450,” an unnamed board member said during the meeting and another director seconded.
The board took a roll‑call vote and recorded affirmative votes from Director Covington, Director Michaelson, Director Mueller, the vice president and President Reynolds; the motion carried. Staff said the integration work is expected to continue through the construction period and that it represents the final contract request tied to the well‑field project.
The board’s approval enables the district to begin contracting for programming, telemetry configuration and HMI integration; staff said they will return with implementation details and coordination steps for commissioning with the general contractor.
