Mr. Wilson, presenting the finance and facilities report, walked trustees through photos and a proposed cadence of projects the district plans to address over the coming year.
He described planned work at Bel Air (inclusive playground with wheelchair-accessible ramps), a DOAS and dehumidification system at Grant to address humidity problems, window and condensation issues at Jefferson, concrete repairs at Lincoln Elementary and Little Panthers Preschool, exterior facade work at Woodland Park, and roof and bathroom renovations at the senior high. Wilson said the district will stagger RFPs so projects do not overwhelm bidding timelines and will bring specific RFPs to the board over the next several months.
Wilson also described transportation needs: some backup and SPED buses are near or past their intended life; the district hopes for about 15 years of service per bus but has units approaching 20 years and will continue to rotate and replace the fleet.
Later in the meeting the board granted permission to advertise RFPs for three contracts — food service management, district copier services and district photography — with estimated returns and review timelines discussed (food service anticipated for NDE review with a March or April board recommendation; photography likely in February).
Board members asked timing questions and were told RFPs will be staggered and that the foundation has supported fundraising for auditorium work. No final contract awards were made; the board approved only release of RFPs and requests for bids.
