The City of Menifee Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission and Community Services Department introduced the Chelsea Bollinger Spirit of Service award during the Dec. 4 meeting and presented the inaugural award to Jeanette Deliano.
Pete Bollinger, Chelsea’s father, attended and offered a brief public comment thanking staff and commissioners for creating the award and for remembering Chelsea. "I just wanna thank all of you for everything you do," he said, adding that Chelsea’s spirit and service mattered to the community. Staff described Chelsea as a Community Services Department employee who joined in 2018 and was known for managing special events and community relations; Chelsea passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 17, and staff said the award will be presented annually to a CSD employee who embodies Chelsea’s positivity, teamwork and commitment.
Staff introduced Jeanette Deliano as the first recipient, describing her as a part-time community services specialist who oversees field allocations, contract classes, indoor reservations and environmental department coordination. "This award is well deserved. Congratulations, Jeanette," staff said; a plaque will be added to the Community Services administration office.
The presentation closed with commission appreciation and remarks recognizing the family and staff efforts to memorialize Chelsea through the new award.
