Administrators provided a multi-part update on staffing and rezoning plans at the Dec. 8 board meeting and outlined next steps for families and staff ahead of the 2026–27 school-year changes.
Human-resources and planning staff described the data-driven placement process used for preliminary staffing decisions: surveys issued May 16–June 30 and a second letter-of-agreement survey Sept. 8–19 produced match rates that administration summarized as roughly 97.7% of elementary staff receiving at least one of their first choices and 87.6% of middle-school staff receiving at least one first choice. Rosters and certification information were provided to principals on Nov. 5, with preliminary assignment notifications set for Dec. 17 and final scheduling content in March–April.
Administrators also reminded families that board-approved rezoning takes effect July 1, 2026, and described a preferred-choice pathway for rezoned families who wish to return to their previous school when space permits (transportation would be required). The magnet-and-choice application window was announced: families must apply by noon on Jan. 28, 2026, and accept or decline assigned placements by noon on Feb. 10; the district’s magnet/choice website and recorded lunch-and-learn sessions were offered as resources.
What’s next: principals will finalize rosters and administrators said transfer windows will open in January; the board will continue to receive planning updates as staffing placements are finalized.
