The Lorain City Schools Board approved a series of routine and operational items during its Dec. 8 meeting.
On roll call the board approved the minutes from Nov. 24 and later approved treasurer items 8.01–8.06, noting donations of approximately $34,000. Personnel items 9.01–9.05 were approved on a separate roll call.
Operations items 10.01–10.08 were approved following discussion. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Graham clarified one contract (item referenced as 10.06) to confirm the district is contracting for 100 Chromebooks equipped with built-in hotspots for the virtual academy on a 36-month contract, with a not-to-exceed total near $90,000. Graham characterized the devices as subsidized, with the recurring internet fee roughly $23 per month per device.
The board also accepted nominations for president pro tem for the upcoming organizational meeting and recorded votes favoring Courtney Nazario for that role.
