Scott Brown, Central Ohio liaison for Ohio State Auditor Keith Faber, presented Delaware County with the Auditor of State Award with Distinction during the county commissioners’ meeting on Dec. 8, citing the county’s timely financial filings and a clean audit report.
"It's my honor to be here on behalf of the auditor to present the Auditor of State Award with Distinction to Delaware County again," Brown said, noting the award is given to entities that file required reports on time, prepare a comprehensive annual financial report and have audit reports without findings for recovery, material weaknesses or significant deficiencies.
Brown singled out county Auditor George Kaitza and the county finance staff for leadership and integrity. Commissioners thanked staff and joined the auditor’s office staff and county officials for a photograph recognizing the achievement.
The presentation underscores the county’s recurring record of fiscal accountability; Scott Brown told the board that roughly 4% of the auditor’s clients receive the distinction each year, reflecting a clean audit and timely reporting.
The award is symbolic recognition of financial practices rather than a policy action; no formal vote was required beyond accepting the presentation.
