Centreville’s town manager reported Dec. 4 that the town submitted a Local Government Energy Modernization (LGEM) grant application seeking $235,000 to support energy‑related upgrades and that the town did not expect a cost share from Maryland Environmental Service.
The manager said the town included support letters from the Maryland Department of the Environment, Queen Anne’s County Commissioners and the District 36 delegation. "The final cost that we are asking for for this grant is $235,000," the manager told the council.
Separately, the council received a briefing on a Main Street project: a market analysis funded by a Maryland Main Street grant that is scheduled to begin in January 2026, run about four months, and return findings to the council in May 2026. Staff said that analysis will not come from the town’s operating budget and is grant‑funded.
Council members said they expect to use the analysis and the data from a planned 'boom tracker' event to help recruit businesses and better target downtown economic‑development initiatives.
No formal council action was recorded on either the LGEM submission or the Main Street market analysis; both items were presented as informational and planning matters.
