The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 9 voted to accept three bids on county repository properties, moving the parcels back into taxable status and advancing previously approved municipal actions.
Resolution 385 concerned a parcel in Chenango Township (ID 31-320300) with a $500 bid from Mary Chavez Chavez; the Shenango Area School Board had approved the sale on Oct. 14 but the township did not respond, leaving final action to the county. After county staff and the solicitor advised approval to return the property to the tax rolls, commissioners voted to accept the bid.
Resolution 386 covered a parcel in the City of Newcastle (3rd Ward, ID 03-001000) with a $501 bid from High 4 Estates LLC; Newcastle City Council had approved the sale on Nov. 21, and the county approved the bid after the Newcastle Area School District did not respond. Resolution 387 approved a $500 bid by Parchman's Candyman Services LLC for a Newcastle 6th Ward parcel (ID 06-033100), again noting prior city council approval and the school district'9s nonresponse.
County staff said accepting these bids returns properties to active tax status. Each motion was moved, seconded and carried by roll call vote during the meeting.
