On Dec. 9 the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 393 and a series of interdepartmental transfers across multiple county departments.
The board authorized $36,632 from the commissioners' contingency to the sheriff'9s vehicle expense line to outfit recently delivered squad cars with radios and other necessary equipment. Commissioners said the vehicles were purchased earlier in the year and the transfer covers outfitting costs.
Other transfers approved included a $225 transfer for recycling telephone/Internet costs; maintenance department transfers totaling $7,655 for water, natural gas and electric line items; sheriff office reallocations of $5,200 among maintenance, travel/training and uniform accounts; minor transfers for district judge postage and treasurer office internet costs; and a $117,600 reallocation within Mental Health and Developmental Services shifting funds from housing into multiple mental-health program line items (including $100,000 to community services and $15,000 to mental health social rehabilitation).
The jail requested a $13,000 transfer from the opioid fund contingency for medical services and medical expenses; the public defender and coroner also requested small transfers that were approved. Commissioners asked clarifying questions and then approved the bundle of transfers by roll call.
