Cumberland County commissioners formally recognized Dana Best for about 30 years of service to the county finance team as she assumes the elected role of county controller.

Commissioners praised Best’s leadership in budgeting, long- and short-term planning, and the finance team’s contributions to the county’s fiscal stability, including national recognitions the commissioners noted were the result of sustained staff work. Dana Best thanked colleagues and staff and described county work as an honor.

The chair introduced Paul Landers, who will replace Best as CFO, welcomed him to the room and said the board looked forward to working with him in the coming weeks. Commissioners described the finance and controller offices as closely coordinated and expressed appreciation for the transition work already underway.

No formal action was required beyond public recognition; the board recessed into regular agenda items after the remarks.
