The Joshua Type A Economic Development Corporation and Parks Board voted to approve a Musco lighting-control retrofit to move the ballfield lights from a manual on/off to a remote, schedulable system.
Parks manager Steven Bill described the retrofit as a retrofit of the existing Musco system that will permit scheduled and remote on/off control, reduce unnecessary runtime when only one field is in use, and may lower electric and maintenance costs because bulb life is tied to hours of use. The Musco quote presented at the meeting was $13,950.
Board members discussed funding sources. Staff identified a park improvement bond fund with unspent proceeds; the motion references account +1 300950 and the bond-fund balance discussed in the meeting (transcript cited a figure of 30,482). The board moved to approve the quote and to fund it from the park improvement bond fund; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said the retrofit will also help future facility rentals by enabling remote scheduling for renters and will be installed by the vendor. The board did not identify a specific installation date; staff will record the expenditure in capital improvements accounting and provide follow-up documentation in the budget reports.
