Polk County board adopts 2025–26 budget calendar and appoints Greg Hansen as budget officer

The Polk County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 31 approved the county's budget calendar for fiscal year 2025–26 and appointed Greg Hansen as the budget officer for the upcoming budget process.

Greg Hansen presented the proposed calendar and outlined key dates: the compensation committee meeting is scheduled for Feb. 25 (lay members), initial budget hearings are tentatively set for Apr. 22–24 (likely two of those three days), and the final budget hearing is scheduled for May 21. Hansen said the calendar is designed to allow tentative approvals during the hearings and a final adoption in May so the county can operate past June 30, 2025.

A commissioner moved to name Greg Hansen budget officer for the 2025–26 budget: "I'll make a move that we make, Mr. Greg Hansen, our budget officer for the 'twenty 5, 'twenty 6 budget," and the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. The board also voted unanimously to accept the budget calendar as presented.

The board completed the appointment and calendar adoption without further conditions and then adjourned the meeting.
