Commission approves consent agenda and fills mental‑health board seat

The Neosho County Commission approved a consent agenda that included an Erie Utilities payable of $7,300, general accounts payable totaling $1,121,268.34, payroll clearing of $90,609.55, and minutes for Dec. 9 and Dec. 17, 2024. The motion passed by voice vote.

Nathan Fossen of Southwest Kansas Mental Health recommended Kathleen Brenner for appointment to the governing board representing Neosho County; a commissioner moved, a second was recorded, and the appointment was approved by voice vote. The board thanked Mr. Fossen and welcomed the new appointee.

The meeting included a public-comment period in which resident Shirley Estrada described multiple records‑fee grievances and requested refunds or credits; commissioners acknowledged the concerns and did not make a formal reparative motion during the meeting. The board later discussed procurement of a countywide forensic audit to review prior financial activity.

The commission adjourned following additional routine business and holiday scheduling.
