Atascosa County accepts bids for tax office and sheriff’s office additions and dedicates ARPA funds

Atascosa County commissioners accepted low bids for two county construction projects and approved using ARPA funds to pay the accepted contracts.

Tracy Burrard (auditor’s office) presented bids for the tax office addition and reported the lowest responsive bid as Holtz & Adams at $1,097,605.14; commissioners voted to accept the low bid and to dedicate ARPA funds to the accepted amount. For the sheriff’s office addition, project staff reported seven bids and recommended Tegrity Construction’s base bid of $1,067,777 (the base bid was the only one below the $1.1 million budget); commissioners accepted the base bid and dedicated ARPA funds to the project. Project managers noted an alternate for additional parking that would increase cost beyond the base bid and advised the court to defer the alternate unless additional funds become available.

Both awards were approved by voice vote. County staff said they will coordinate with the auditor’s office to transfer ARPA funds and finalize contract documents; the court discussed acting on funding transfers as soon as the next meeting to ensure timely execution. The county also requested that references and scoring documentation be retained in procurement files.

Next steps: Auditor/facilities staff to arrange ARPA transfers and return signed contract documents to the commissioners’ court for record.
